Body Found Next to Car in Cherokee County Identified as Georgia Man

A Georgia man’s body was recently found in the Lawrence Community on County Road 80 in Cherokee County, Alabama

Authorities identified the body as Van Reeth of Hiawassee.

According to Cherokee County Coroner Paul McDonald, it appears that the death came as the result of an overdose.

“A 911 caller reported a man lying on the side of the road on County Road 80 on Wednesday afternoon. Deputies and EMS responded to the scene and discovered a Georgia man deceased next to his vehicle. The death appears to be the result of a drug overdose.  The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene and is transporting the body to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsy.”
