Ruth Martin Payne, 87 years, passed on to glory on Sunday, February 9, 2025.  She was a resident at Cartersville Crossing Health Care Center for almost five years.  She was born on March 28, 1937.  She is preceded in death by her parents Rosebud Cochran Martin and William “Willie” Martin.

Ruth was of the Christian faith and attended Liberty Square Church in Cartersville.  She is survived by her only loving child, Sherry (Jeff) Clark; and grandchildren, Ashlee (Drew) Nichols and Taylor (Josh) Cole; and  numerous beautiful great grandchildren.  Ruth is also survived by her sisters and brother, Grace Mercer, Betty (Billy) Lyerla, Elaine (Billy) Godfrey, Annette Martin, Jean Clark, and Harry (Debbie) Martin; as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

Ruth worked and retired from R.D Simpson/Zena Jeans Cartersville.  She also volunteered at Cartersville Medical Center after retirement as a “Pink Lady,” helping in the outpatient department.  Ruth made many friends and never met a stranger.  She was always smiling and willing to help out.  Ruth and her daughter did a lot of traveling, seeing beautiful places such as Alaska, Hawaii, and Cancun, Mexico to name a few. 

Ruth will truly be missed by her family and friends, but she is smiling down from heaven and hopes to see us all again one day soon. 

A very special thank you goes out to all the wonderful people at Cartersville Crossing; you have become and will always be my second family- thank you so much for taking care and loving my mama and I so much.  I love all of you, thank you so much.  A special thanks also goes out to Tapestry Hospice Care. 

The family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 15, 2025.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
