Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth ‘Mickey’ Carter, age 93, a lifelong resident of Rome and Floyd County, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of February 22, 2025, and is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mickey was born May 23, 1931, the youngest daughter of the late Coleman Franks Lipham and the late Myrtle Elizabeth Walker Lipham. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Felix H. ‘Tag’ Carter; her sister, Frances Louise Lipham Kines; and her granddaughter, Whitney Ann Carter.

Mickey was first and foremost a loving mother to her three children and a homemaker, staying at home in our school years in order to provide us with the best environment possible, giving us support, wisdom and the love only a Mom can give. After our Dad passed in 1986, she decided to go to work and held positions at Sears Roebuck on 2nd Avenue in Rome, in Food Services for over 10 years at Berry College , and at Ransom Florist in Rome , working with owner Mark Brewer whom she loved.

Wherever Mom was she had a positive impact and always tried to leave the folks she encountered with a smile. She truly tried to be the best at whatever task she was given. We will all miss her every day for the rest of our lives but take comfort in knowing we will all be together again someday!

Survivors include her son, Gregory Carter (Sundi) of Rockmart; her daughters, Laura Phillips (Tommy) of Rome, and Andrea Taylor (Ricky) of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Our Mom was so very proud of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all brought so much joy into her life, and she loved her time with each of them!

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 3:00pm, in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Frank Wood officiating.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens on Saturday, March 1, 2025, by 2:45pm and include, Ricky Taylor, Sherard Allen, Coleman Phillips, Ethan Francis, Jerry Francis, and Tommy Phillips.

We would like to thank the nurses on the 5th Floor at Advent Health Redmond, the staff and care team at Harborview Rome, and Traditions Hospice for their loving care that you showed mom.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you consider making a memorial donation to Calvary Baptist Church, 101 Broadus Rd NE, Rome, GA 30161, or online at calvaryrome.org.
