Habitat Coosa Valley held a groundbreaking earlier this week in North Rome, the 61st home for the affiliate. This home is being built in the memory of John Hine. Mr. Hine was a dedicated volunteer and donor to Habitat Coosa Valley since the affiliate was established in 1984. His hands and heart built more than 25 homes in our community. His final gift is a testament to his commitment to providing affordable housing in our community. This home will be built to honor his legacy.

Betsy Allgood, executive director for Habitat Coosa Valley, said she is excited for their newest partner family. Our donors and volunteers are giving Tyana and her children an opportunity to build a better future, and this groundbreaking symbolizes the change that will happen for the three of them.

Through volunteer labor and donations of funds and materials, Habitat works with families in need, Partner Families, to build simple, decent and affordable homes. We seek to build lives, families and communities as well as houses. Habitat empowers families and works in partnership with them and helps them realize their dreams of homeownership.
