Joseph Allen Breeden, 54 of Fort Payne, was arrested in Rome after reports said he was found to be in possession of a stolen license plate.
Officers said that during the traffic stop, Breeden provided them with a false name and date of birth to cover up he was driving on a suspended license.
The officers originally stopped Breeden because he was driving on an expired tag decal.
Breeden is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, giving false information to police, driving on a suspended license, operation of a vehicle without a license plate, driving without insurance, driving without license, operation of a vehicle without a valid decal and concealing the identity of a vehicle.
