Donald Edgar Adams, age 83, of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

          Don was born in Shannon, Georgia, on June 30, 1941, son of the late Reverand William Edgar Adams and the late Martha Lee Norris Adams. He was also preceded in death by his son, Anthony D. Adams, and sister, Betty Tant. Don was a graduate of Model High School, Class of 1959. He was employed by Maxwell Furniture from 1959 until 1984. Don and Shirley bought the store and operated Adams Furniture until their retirement in 2006. He was very active in the Rome Downtown Development Authority during the Streetscape Project. Don was twice the commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Rome chapter.

          Don received a heart transplant in 1996. Because of this gift, he enjoyed another 28 years of life, during which he touched many lives. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating, skiing, horseback riding, and ballroom dancing. Don and Shirley taught dance for many years. Don and Shirley loved to travel. They visited all 50 states and 29 countries. His favorite pastime was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend; he will be missed by all who knew him.

          Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Shirley Lee Phillips Adams; daughter, Anjanette Fletcher; brother, Gary Adams (Tanya); grandchildren, Adam Fletcher, Jessica Fletcher Russell (Kyle), William Fletcher, Caroline Fletcher, Zachery Adams, and Joshua Adams; his great grandchildren, Lily Fletcher, Luke Russell, Sadie Russell, and Avery Russell; several nieces and nephews

          Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 17, 2025, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Reverend Kevin Barton officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

         The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 12:00pm until 1:45pm.

         Active pallbearers include: William Fletcher, Adam Fletcher, Kyle Russell, Joshua Adams, Everett Phillips Jr., and Allen McEver.

         Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
