The City of Calhoun and Keep Calhoun Gordon Beautiful’s Arbor Day Tree Giveaway is set for Saturday February 15th from 8:30 am until noon at the Calhoun Recreation Department gym, 601 S. River St.

Organizers will be giving out free tree seedlings such as apple, beech, birch, buckeye, chestnut, cypress, dogwood, hickory, maple, mulberry, oak, pine, redbud, plum, witch hazel, paw paw, serviceberry, crabapple, and persimmon. 

Last year close to 4,000 free seedlings were distributed to over 350 visitors.

Volunteer groups for this year’s event include KCGB, Calhoun Woman’s Club, Calhoun Elementary School Rota Kids, Georgia-Cumberland Academy, Calhoun and Sonoraville high school Interact Clubs, Sonoraville Agriculture Class/Future Farmers of America, Gordon County 4-H, Gordon Central High School FFA, and other community volunteers.
