Brother John Wayne Richards, age 63, of Rome, GA, passed away Sunday February 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Richards was born in Cedartown, GA, September 20, 1961 to the late GB Richards and Mrs. Annie Davis Richards. Mr. Richards was a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years and a beloved bus driver for over 12 years. But his most dedicated calling was as a minister, a calling which spanned over 30 years of his life. Mr. Richards was a loving and devoted family man, who left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Above all else, he loved spending time with his Val Pal.
In addition to his father, Mr. Richards is preceded in death by his brother, David Richards.
Mr. Richards is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ayers Richards; his children, Eric Cardenas, John David Richards (Erin), Bryson Rainey (Lexi), Lukas Richards, and Anna McElwee (Casen); his mother, Annie Davis Richards; brother, Danny Ray Richards; grandchildren, Meridith Richards, Deegan Richards, and Valerie McElwee; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Richards will be conducted Thursday February 27 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Litesey Funeral Home with Randy Vines and Leon Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley View Cemetery with Jesse Starnes conducting the graveside ceremony. The family will receive friends Thursday February 27 prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Litesey Funeral Home.
