Rebecca “Becca,” Lynn Blackwell, of Rome, GA, sadly passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the age of 38, at Emory Decatur Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Becca was born in Albany, GA, on December 12, 1986, daughter of C.Q. Blackwell and Linda Blackwell. In addition to her loving parents, she is also survived by her sisters, Kristen Gabai (Donny) and Melissa Blackwell (Naomi Nolan); her adoring grandmother, Margaret Blackwell; her niece and nephews, Ezra Gabai, Robin Gabai, Oakley Nolan, and Riley Nolan; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
Becca is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Charles Quinn Blackwell Jr., and her maternal grandparents, W. Harvey Floyd Jr. and Nickie Gaines Floyd.
Becca could be described as a person with light, love and joy. She enjoyed sitting outside observing nature and her surroundings. When she was younger and lived at home with her family, they loved going camping together. While they mostly camped in Georgia, they have also visited Yellowstone, Colorado and South Dakota. While on their travels, Becca’s family learned she was not a fan of Mount Rushmore and screamed at them to get her out of there. She also didn’t like the buffalo blocking the roads. In fact, Becca didn’t like anything that caused a prolonged delay while traveling besides watching the buffalo (when they weren’t in the middle of the road), traffic lights, and trains. Becca loved people and had fun watching them. Her family always teased her that she was “nosy” as she had to watch everyone within her community. She loved attention and wasn’t fond of sharing the spotlight. One of her favorite activities was going out to eat, which she got to do for her last birthday party. She went to Provino’s with her family, housemates, and staff from her home, and really enjoyed the lasagna and the birthday cake. Becca had a love for glitter, anything shiny, pretty lights, and music. Her favorite person was her grandma and even when she was little and living in Albany, she would let her grandma know that she wanted to go to her house instead of back to her own. She also recognized when she was getting close to her grandma’s house when she moved away and would get very excited. She had the sweetest laugh and brought so much joy to people. We are thankful for the years Becca blessed us and will miss her greatly.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel with Grant Magness officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time for visitation. Becca will be laid to rest in Albany, GA at Crown Hill Cemetery during a private committal.
