A wanted fugitive from justice, John Thomas Champion, 30 of Cedartown, was captured after lint to Floyd County police this week.
Report said that Champion was stopped on GA 53 near College Park Drive for not wearing a seatbelt. During the stop, Champion gave officers a fake name and date of birth. However, his girlfriend mentioned Champion’s real name during the stop to police.
Upon checking the police data base it was discovered that Champion was a wanted fugitive in Alabama.
Champion is charged with fugitive from justice, giving false information to police and a seat belt violation.
