According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Cherokee County deputies were notified by Cherokee County dispatch that a stolen vehicle had passed a license plate reader (LPR) near Cedar Bluff. Deputy Gavin Johnson located the vehicle and stopped the vehicle on Alabama Highway 9, near County Road 51 in the Farrell community. The driver was identified as Thomas Cross (35 y/o Dyersburg, TN). According to the Dyersburg (TN) Police Department, the vehicle was taken 5 days prior from Dyersburg out of an airport hanger.
Illegal drugs were found on the driver and he was subsequently charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance x2, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana 2nd, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. He was additionally charged with Receiving Stolen Property 1st. Thomas will also be charged in Tennessee in connection to the theft.
