The Polk County Board of Commissioners met this week and approved over $1 million in purchases.
The board voted to buy two Pierce Tanker trucks for $1,185,054, inclement weather equipment for $72,000 and seven ballistic shields for the police and sheriff’s office at a cost of $37,400.
An approval was also given for the fire department to apply for a grant to purchase an additional tanker.
A 30 mile per hour speed limit was also given the OK for a portion of Dunn Road.
Dr. Jerry Buttrum was awarded the 2024 Citizen of the Year by the board as well.
