Mrs. Dorothy Mae Roberson Wood, age 95, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 08, 2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Wood was born in Lindale, GA, on April 14, 1929, daughter of the late Garnett Roberson and the late Mary Phillips Roberson. She was also preceded in death by her son, Herbert Wood; her grandson John Robert Wood; and her siblings, George Roberson, Clyde Roberson, Roy Roberson, Kenneth Roberson, Dan Roberson, Jack Roberson, Anne Smith, and Edna West.
Dorothy worked as a telephone operator, beginning with BellSouth, then retiring from AT&T after over 20 years of service. She then obtained her real estate license and enjoyed buying houses, she loved traveling around the country with her sister Edna, and she liked to move. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all.
Survivors include her children, Jane Bray (John), Marie Coalson (Ken), Barry Wood, Phil Wood (Lois), Julie Johnson, and Bradley Wood (Sarah); her grandchildren, Bonnie Swett (Sam), Paul Bray, Emily Wood, Philip Wood (Mary Elizabeth), Blake Johnson, Reba Huskins (Michael), Georgia Wood, Avery Wood, and Levi Wood; her great grandchildren, Luke Harold, Lily Harold, Llaerton Huskins, Marisol Huskins, and David Wood; her sister in law, Charlotte Roberson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 2:00pm, in the chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Vicki Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 12:00pm-2:00pm, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, by 1:30pm and include: Blake Johnson, Barry Wood, Phil Wood, Bradley Wood, Philip Wood, and Michael Huskins.
The family would like to thank Tina Causey and Jerrie Gann for their care and compassion to Mrs. Wood during this time.
