Mr. Gregorio Mendiola Lopez, Jr., age 87, of Kingston, GA, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 2, 2024, surrounded by his family.

       Mr. Lopez was born in Kingsville, TX, on April 15, 1937, son of the late Gregorio Mendiola Lopez, Sr., and the late Eufemia Mendiola Lopez. He was also preceded in death by 5 siblings, Jacinta Prado, Ernestina Garcia, Raul Lopez, Florencia Hernandez, and Mary Ann Esparza. Mr. Lopez was a graduate of Miller High School in Corpus Christi, TX. He spent 30 years as a welder for the Halliburton Company before his retirement. He was very musically inclined and loved playing his guitar, the stand-up bass, and enjoyed going dancing. Mr. Lopez loved the mechanics of vehicles and could take a vehicle apart to its frame and restore it completely. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Lopez was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

       Survivors include his loving wife, Maria Saenz Lopez, to whom he was married for over 65 years; a son, John Lopez (Dorrie); 2 grandsons, John Charles Lopez and Robert Michael Lopez; 2 great-grandchildren, Oliver Lopez and Catalyna Laughlin; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Miller Gomez Ruiz presiding and Deacon Stuart Neslin assisting. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

       The family will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rosary beginning at 6:40pm.

       The Knights of Columbus will serve as pallbearers and are asked to assemble by 1pm on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
