Gurpreet Kaur Singh, 34 of Fortson, was arrested in Rome after reports said he knocked a woman on the head and then stole her cellphone.
The victim suffered visible injuries to her ear from the punch.
Reports said that the iPhone was valued at $1,000.
The incident occured on Queen Street.
Singh is charged with robbery and battery.
