A 30 year-old homeless Rome man, Gary Dalton Morgan, who was jailed last week on theft and drug charges is facing new felony charges after investigators discovered he was the man behind an armed robbery.
Reports said that on November 1, Morgan lured a 72 year-old man to a location on Rosalyn court to make a purchase for items he told him he had for sale.
When the victim arrived, Morgan allegedly grabbed the victim’s wallet, which contained $600 in cash and numerous credit cards.
Morgan’s newest charges include robbery, exploitation of the elderly, theft by taking, theft by receiving, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He has also been charged with burglarizing a Morrison Campground Road home, where he stole six firearms on November 7.

Gary Dalton Morgan, 30 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he stole a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse from a 69 year-old woman and was later found with a gun and drugs.
The vehicle, which is valued at over $2,000, was taken from the Garden Inn and Suites on November 3rd.
Morgan was located this week at the West Rome Walmart by police. Morgan, upon approach of officers, admitted to swallowing methamphetamine.
He was then found in possession of a firearm, smoking devices and syringes.
Morgan is charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle. Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of drug related objects and probation violation.
