Andre Lorenzo Dupree, 28 of Rome, has been arrested for a fatal stabbing that occurred last week on Maple Road.

Reports said that Dupree stabbed Chavish Darnelle Dargin in the heart with a large knife on October 27 outside the Sonoco Gas Station.

Dupree was found near the intersection of Flannery and East 20th Streets. a block away from where the murder occurred.

Dupree is also accused of taking the victim’s cellphone, which was later located at the accused grandmother’s home.

Dupree is charged with malace murder, murder, aggravated assault and probation violation.

Rome Police officers have identified the man found deceased at the Sunoco gas station as Charvish Darnell Dargen.

Reports said that officers arrived on the scene and saw Dargen lying in the parking lot with blood around his head.  Paramedics were then dispatched to the scene where they reported that Dargen was dead on arrival.

Investigators said that nearby residents heard a loud verbal argument prior to the body being found.

Rome Police are currently investigating the death as a possible homicide.

Rome Police responded to the area around the Sonoco fuel station located at 2031 Maple Street, Rome early Sunday morning to reports of a deceased male on scene. The Rome Police Criminal Investigation Division arrived and assumed command of the investigation. No further details are being released at this time.
