Mrs. Myra Jean Littlejohn Mathis, age 77, of Rome, GA, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Mathis was born in Rome, GA, on January 21, 1947, daughter of the late Herman Littlejohn and the late Ruby Nichols Littlejohn. She was also preceded by a brother, Jackie Littlejohn. Mrs. Mathis was a graduate of Pepperell High School where she was a varsity football cheerleader and varsity basketball player. She spent her entire 43-year career as a billing clerk with Rayloc Inc. before her retirement.

Mrs. Mathis loved her family above all else here on Earth and especially loved bragging on her grandchildren who affectionately called her “MeMe”. She enjoyed flowers, cooking, and traveling, especially to the beach. Mrs. Mathis might not have enjoyed it, but was always cleaning making sure her house was immaculate. Among her favorite things was gathering with friends and family. Mrs. Mathis was a member of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church and is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, James “Jim” Mathis, Jr., Silver Creek; 2 sons, James J. “Jimmy” Mathis III, (Stacy), Conway, AR, and Timothy Martin “Marty” Mathis (Melisa), Tampa, FL; 4 grandchildren, Ansley Prout (Connor), William Mathis (Demi), Greyson Mathis and Taylor Rose Mathis; 2 sisters, Sue Fowler (Lamar), and Ann Folsom (Ron); a brother, Jimmy Littlejohn (Donna); numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Pleasant Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Joel Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.

Pallbearers are to assemble by 1:30pm on Friday at Pleasant Hope Baptist Church and include: Tommy Smith, Ed Proctor, Steve Cox, Mike Silver, Robby Silver and Jonathan Silver.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Hope Baptist Church.
