Mr. Robert Wayne Smith, age 81, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at a local healthcare facility.
Mr. Smith was born in Silver Creek, Georgia on August 7, 1943, son of the late Nathan Edgar Smith and the late Ina Louise Stone Smith. He was also preceded in death by three siblings, Norman Smith, Howell Smith, and Lois Williams. Prior to retirement, Mr. Smith worked as a sewing machine mechanic for Rome Manufacturing. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Smith enjoyed farming and riding horses. He built his family home himself just to prove he could.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nancilee Couch Smith; a daughter, Winalee “Wendy” Harcourt (Terry); a sister, Linda Hall (Henry, Jr.); three grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Private graveside service will be held at East View Cemetery.
