Mr. James Taylor Davis, age 90, of Rome, GA, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Davis was born in Rome, GA, on October 26, 1934, to the late Gordy Edwin Davis and Hazel Irene Davis (formerly Anderson.)
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Mrs. Shelby Davis; his children, Cindy Howard (Randy), Mike Davis (Kelli), and Mitch Davis (Regina), all of Rome, GA; his grandchildren, Josh Howard (Cameron) of Rome, GA, Scott Howard of Rome, GA, Ben Davis (Hannah) of Rome, GA, Brady Davis, of Rome, GA, Ally Railey (Tanner) of Trion, GA, and Cole Proffitt, of Rome, GA; as well as his great-grandchildren, Mercy Howard and Bella Davis.
Mr. Davis enjoyed life’s simplicities. He loved being outdoors, sharing stories with friends and family, and enjoyed watching the comings and goings of folks from his front porch. He was a Deacon at Antioch Baptist Church for many years and showed great love for the Lord and for his community, as he never met a stranger and showed kindness to all he encountered. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are to assemble by 1:30 pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel and include Jeff Cordle, Kevin Cordle, Grant Smith, W.C. Dunaway, Kenny Carden, Neal Carden, and Ben Davis. Honorary pallbearers include Leonard Buffington, Ray Davis, Lary Smith, and Benny Bohannon.
