Mr. Dewey Allen Carter, age 87, of Lindale, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at his residence.

       Mr. Carter was born in Cave Spring, GA, on March 7, 1937, son of the late Lewis Jackson Carter and the late Lillian Baker Carter. He was also preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Loflin Carter, and by his daughter, Donna Renee Weems, and by 2 sisters, Jacqueline White and Nettie Jo Hines. Mr. Carter was a graduate of Pepperell High School and went on to earn a distinguished graduate recognition from the International Correspondence School for shop maintenance. He owned and operated his own machine shop on 5th Avenue for over 20 years and taught at the machine shop at Coosa Valley Technical college for many years. Mr. Carter enjoyed watching stock car racing and was a big fan of NASCAR, very rarely missing a race. His true passion was his Harley Davidson. Mr. Carter rode his motorcycle wherever he could. He made trips to see his brother in Key West, drove across all of Alaska and made the trips to Sturgess when he could. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and is now reunited with JoAnn and rejoicing in the presence of his Savior for eternity.

       Survivors include his 2 brothers, Gary Carter, Rome, and Bobby Carter (Karen), Boca Raton, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and former students whom he loved dearly.

       A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Mr. Carter’s nephew-in-law, Greg Jolly, will officiate the service.
