Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum will host their annual Victorian Christmas
tours this year on December 6th, 7th, 13th, and 14th. The tours invite you to experience the
holiday traditions of Martha Berry’s childhood during the Victorian era.
Emma Smith, a student museum staff member, shared, “The Victorian era was the origin of
many of the Christmas traditions we know and love today. These tours allow us to explore
the history of Christmas while also experiencing Oak Hill at its holiday best!”
On Friday and Saturday evenings, Oak Hill’s Victorian Christmas Tours provide a glimpse
into the festive celebrations of the late nineteenth century. The historic home will be
adorned with holiday greenery and period-accurate decor, transporting guests to the era.
Specialty guided tours of the 1880s mansion will explore how Christmas became a
widespread celebration in the United States and the unique traditions of Southern
households of that era. In addition to the tours, the event includes live music in the Oak Hill
home, light holiday refreshments, and access to exhibits in The Martha Berry Museum.
