Mrs. Martha Jane Conaway, age 84, of Lindale, GA, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, at a hospital in Rome, GA.
Mrs. Conaway was born in Floyd County, GA, on January 20, 1940, daughter of the late Ralph Van Horn and the late Ruby Norton Van Horn. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Conaway. Mrs. Conaway worked for over 30 years at Rome Manufacturing where she was the pressing supervisor. She spent the last 10 years of her working career as a lunch lady at Pepperell Primary School. Mrs. Conaway loved her family more than anything and enjoyed any chance to cook for them. She adored her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Conaway always cared about the wellbeing of others above herself. She enjoyed ending each day in her recliner playing with her tablet. Mrs. Conaway was a faithful member of McFall Baptist Church and is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity.
Survivors include her loving husband, Charles Henry Conaway, Lindale; 2 children, Pam Winters and Ricky Conaway, both of Lindale; 3 grandchildren, D.J. Gamel, Amanda Dowdy Adams (Mike), and Heather Simonds; 6 great grandchildren, Gracie Pilgrim, Emma Pilgrim, Lane Simonds, Austen Simonds, Emilee Simonds, and Charlee Simonds; 3 great-great grandchildren, Ryker Pearson, Raylee Pearson and Parker Simonds; her brother, Gene Van Horn; and 2 nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Monday, September 30, 2024, at McFall Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Hulsey, Rev. Dewey Atchley, Rev. Alton Stamey, and Rev. Kent Thomas officiating. Interment will take place in Floyd Memory Gardens at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 11am until service time on Monday at McFall Baptist Church.
Pallbearers are to assemble by 12:30pm on Monday at McFall Baptist Church and include: Scott Gladney, D.J. Gamel, Lane Simonds, Guy Green, Jason Green and Mike Adams.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Advent-Redmond Hospital’s ICU East Staff and nurse Kayla Smith. They also extend special thanks to Traditions Health Hospice and nurse Angela Richardson for the tireless care and compassion they administered to Mrs. Conaway.
