Mr. Fred “Bubba” Stover, age 91, of Rome, GA, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, in a local hospital.

Mr. Stover was born in Ellijay, GA, on April 25, 1933, son of the late John Tasker Stover and the late Flora Ida Holt Stover. He was also preceded in death by 5 sisters, Lois Willerson, Peggy Paris, Bonnie Ellis, Elsie Hardin, and Rommie Rittenhouse. Mr. Stover was a graduate of Valley Point High School in Dalton. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having spent the majority of his time on the battleship New Jersey. Mr. Stover retired from Swedish Match after 33 years where he served as their Southeastern district sales manager. He was a faithful member of Skyland Methodist Church in Brookhaven.

Mr. Stover enjoyed traveling (especially out west) and was an extremely talented musician. His band, “The Swing Masters”, specialized in country music and traveled to perform at numerous schools throughout Georgia and Alabama. Mr. Stover’s favorite hobby was working at his church. Anything that needed to be done, he was willing to do. Mr. Stover not only talked about his faith but lived it out and is now rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity.

Survivors include 3 siblings, Jack Stover (Elaine Lavon), Faye Paris, and Jane Atchley (Dewey), all of Kingston; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Dewey Atchley, Rev. Jerry Branton, and his Pastor, Miguel Velez, officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens where the Rome American Legion Honor Guard will present military rites.

The family will receive friends from 12pm until service time on Thursday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday at 1:30pm and include Tony Crunkelton, Chris Rittenhouse, Frankie Rittenhouse, Jeffrey Stover, Danny Rittenhouse, Jose Garcia, and Chris Self.
