Martha Ann Cantrell Clemones, 91, of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Born on March 10, 1933, in Rome, Georgia, Martha was the beloved daughter of the late Awtrey and Annette Cantrell. She spent her life rooted in the warmth and traditions of her community, embodying kindness, strength, and a deep sense of faith.

Martha’s life was marked by love and devotion to her family, and she was known for her unwavering dedication to those she held dear. She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Duane Clemones; her cherished children, Mike Clemones and Marsha Hammitt; her precious granddaughter, Jessica Clemones; and her dear brothers, Doyle Cantrell and Floyd Cantrell.

Though her absence leaves an undeniable void, Martha’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her surviving family. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Rodney Clemones and Rex Clemones, whose lives were shaped by her wisdom and steadfast love. Her grandchildren, Misty James, Morgan Green, Malley Atkinson, Mason Clemones, David Clemones, Julie Tanner, Kara Doss, and Lora Williams, will forever treasure the countless lessons and moments shared with their grandmother, whose pride and joy they were. Martha is also survived by her brother, Spence Cantrell, and her sisters, Joyce Dunkin and June Tarpley, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond.

Martha was a woman of many quiet yet remarkable strengths. She took pride in her self-employment, where her determination and resourcefulness were evident to all who knew her. A graduate of her local high school, she carried the values of hard work, faith, and perseverance throughout her life. Above all, Martha was a devoted member of the Baptist faith, finding peace and guidance in her walk with the Lord.

Her life was also a rich tapestry of personal passions and gifts. Martha loved sewing, often crafting pieces with care and precision, and her cooking was a source of comfort and delight to her family. She had a special connection with animals, finding joy and companionship in their presence. Above all, Martha loved her family deeply, always putting them first in her life. Her home was filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of family gatherings.

Martha was known for her witty nature and possessed a sharp sense of humor that could light up a room. Her quick wit and playful spirit brought joy to those around her, and she had an exceptional ability to make people laugh even in the most unexpected moments. Her humor, combined with her enduring love for her family, made her truly unforgettable to all who knew her.

Martha’s  life will be celebrated on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home chapel. The family will welcome visitors for a time of fellowship and remembrance starting at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Reverend David Thornton will officiate. Following the service, Martha will be laid to rest in the family Mausoleum at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, where she will find her eternal peace alongside those she loved.

The family finds comfort in knowing Martha is now at peace and reunited with her loved ones in the presence of the Lord. Though they mourn her loss, they rejoice in the knowledge that she is surrounded by God’s grace and everlasting love.

The arrangements for Martha’s service are entrusted to Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home, whose care and compassion have been greatly appreciated by the family during this time of sorrow.
