Jeffrey Seath McClure, 43 of Jasper, AL, was arrested in Rome after reports said he strangled and beat a woman in the face before stealing her car.
Reports stated that McClure repeatedly punched the woman, leaving visible injuries to her face.
He is then accused of breaking her television and taking her cellphone when she attempted to call 911 for help.
McClure then fled the scene after stealing her vehicle, which is valued at $45,000.
McClure is charged with aggravated assault, theft by taking a motor vehicle, obstruction of a person making a 911 call, battery and criminal trespass.
