Mr. Lawrence Emmons “Yogi” Wade Jr., age 70, of Rome, GA, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Larry was born in Asheville, North Carolina, on October 30, 1953, son of the late Lawrence Emmons Wade Sr., and the late Lucy Singleton Wade. Larry attended Asheville High School. He was a devoted truck driver with Rogers Trucking Company out of Kentucky. Yogi’s love of trucking kept him out on the road often, but when time allowed, he loved to fish, and aggravating his grandkids and adopted grandkids was something he loved to do. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years Carolyn Knight Wade; daughters, Nikki Cagle (Bo) , Ashley Owens (Alan) , Gidget McBurnett, and Chi Pritchard (John) ; sons, Dustin Wade (Dawn), Moe McBurnett (Chantell), and Larry Wade; grandchildren, Camry McBurnett, Alyssa Boozer, Harley Boozer, Jase Wade, Devin Owens, Matthew Owens, Ja’ Riah Owens, Destinee McBurnett, Kailyn McBurnett, Landon McBurnett, Ryan Pritchard, Lily Pritchard and Camerun Wade; sisters Patricia Hornsby, Jackie Smith and Judy Sykora, several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Richard Smith and his infant grandson, Caleb Cagle.
The family will receive friends and celebrate the life of Yogi on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 11:00 am EST until 1:00 pm EST at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church located at 840 Doyle Rd. Cedartown, GA 30125.
