Mr. James Alex Turner, age 66, of Rome, GA, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Turner was born in Harlan County, KY, on March 8, 1958, son of the late Clyde Turner and the late Addie Mae Voyles Turner. He was also preceded in death by 3 siblings, Brenda Casey, Phillip Turner and Betty Smith. Mr. Turner attended Pepperell High School. He worked for over 18 years at Bekaert and then worked for the Hon Industries as an industrial painter for over 10 years before his health forced him to retire. Mr. Turner was a member of East Rome Baptist Church.
Mr. Turner was a nature lover through and through. He considered his deck like most people consider their living room, no matter what season it was he was sitting outside as much as possible. Mr. Turner loved listening to birds and going to the mountains whenever he could. He enjoyed fishing and Atlanta Braves baseball. His family was everything to him and his happy place was anywhere his family was. Mr. Turner is now fully healed and rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity.
Survivors include his loving wife, Nina Carver Turner, Rome, to whom he was married on March 19, 1976; 2 children, Christy Green, Rome, and Anthony Turner (Natalie), Kingston; 5 grandchildren, Lee White, Sarah Green (Desmond), Logan Green (Haley), Anna Turner, and Maddie Turner; 5 great-grandchildren, Aubree White, Rayden White, Ryan Green, Piper White, and Zepplin Green; his sister, Nellie Castleberry; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Scott Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12pm until service time on Wednesday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.
Pallbearers are to assemble by 1:30pm on Wednesday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include: active, Jason Fuller, Jimmy Smith, Jay Smith, Jimmy Shaw, and Reggie Gordon; honorary, Clay Westmoreland.
