Mrs. Donnice Faye Bohannon Powell, age 78, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at her residence with her family by her side.
Mrs. Powell was born in Rome, Georgia on July 29, 1946, daughter of the Ellis Bohannon and the late Myrtle Sutton Bohannon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Don Oliver Powell, to whom she was married on August 15, 1964, by a daughter, Sherry Denise Diggs, by her twin brother, Donnie Bohannon, by her in-laws, Earl & Ruby Powell, and by a brother-in-law, James M. Powell. Mrs. Powell was a 1964 graduate of Pepperell High School and was still very involved with several of her classmates. Prior to retirement, she worked for many years at Battey Machinery until it closed, and then she was an accounting clerk for the City of Rome Finance Department. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Powell loved her cat, Ginger, and her greatest joy in life came from loving her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids and watching them play sports. She loved being Nana.
Survivors include two children, Scharla Battle (Cedric) and Brian Powell (Kimberly); grandchildren, Cody Dover (Katie), Chase Dover, Tyler Diggs (Emily), Zach Diggs (Skylar), Brianna Couch (Josh), Ryland Battle, Brighley Powell, Briant Powell, Caden King (Eliana), and Kynsie King; great grandchildren, Emma Dover, Ellie Dover, Emersyn Dover, Copeland Diggs, Greyson Diggs, and Jannah Couch; son-in-law, Eddie Diggs; brother, Bill Bohannon (Rita); sister-in-law, Joan Bohannon; nieces & nephews, Kippi Ellison, Carlee Bohannon, Jefferey Ty Bohannon, and Chris Bohannon (Cassie).
Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 3:30pm at Rome Memorial Park. Brian Powell and Ryan Edwards will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from1 until 3pm.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday at 2:30pm and include Active: Brian Powell, Jeff Bohannon, Chris Bohannon, Cedric Battle, Chase Dover, and Briant Powell. Honorary: Eddie Diggs, Zach Diggs, Tyler Diggs, Cody Dover, Ryland Battle, Caden King, and Josh Couch.
