Mr. Zim Lamar Turner, age 87, of Rome, GA, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024, at a local healthcare facility.
Mr. Turner was born in Rome, Georgia, on February 7, 1937, son of the late Herman Chaney Turner and the late Ruby Lee Baggett Turner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Fay Tibbs Turner, and a granddaughter, Rachael Alford. Lamar was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church, prior to his retirement, he was an Electrical Engineer for First Brand Corp., formally Union Carbide. Mr. Turner loved farming, his cattle, working in his garden, collecting tractors of all sizes, but not as much as he loved his family.
Survivors include his children, Terry Miller (Phillip), Ginger Alford (Dwayne), and Nona Mull (John); his 9 grandchildren; his 18 great grandchildren; his sister Janice Duncan (Bill); his brother, Ronnie Turner; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 12 noon, in Floyd Memory Gardens. His grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.
