James Christian Dean, age 65, of Rome, Georgia, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Born on May 10, 1959, he was the beloved son of Barbara Duvall Dean and the late Ernest L. Dean.
James is survived by his devoted mother, Barbara; his cherished sister, Valerie Pierce (Mike); and his adored nieces, Mandy Henson (Jason) and Brandy Wiggins (Cody). He was a loving great-uncle to Evan Henson and Camden Wiggins. Additionally, James held a special place in his heart for his cousins, Jackie Diprima, Nancy Rogers, Debbie Hicks, and Glenda Wallace.
James had a profound passion for writing, often crafting short stories that touched the hearts of those who read them. His love for music was equally profound, with a particular fondness for soft jazz, 80s tunes, and any composition featuring the soothing sounds of saxophones.
Known for his immense heart and sweet spirit, James was a beacon of love and kindness to everyone he encountered. He was a blessing to all who knew him, fostering Christian-sponsored children and dedicating his time and resources to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, supporting their mission to care for sick children.
A devout Christian, James found great solace in reading his Bible and was confident in his faith. He knew, beyond the shadow of any doubt that upon leaving his earthly vessel, he would be granted a new body in the resurrection, enabling him to walk and run freely.
A graveside service to honor James’s life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, officiated by Tim Blevins.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful nurses at Redmond Intensive Care Unit for their dedicated care and support during James’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in James’s memory.
