Floyd County Deputy Coroner Chris Giles has confirmed that the body of a man found in Armuchee Creek was that of 64 year-old Alfred Franklin Trapp Jr, of Rome.

Giles said that Trapp was found near the bank under a bridge on US 27 near GA 156 in around a foot and a half of water.

He added that Trapp was found only wearing pants and that his shirt ,shoes, and cellphone were sitting on a nearby bank.

Trapp reportedly last spoke to family members a week ago.

Authorities stated that no foul play is expected but the body has been sent to the GBI crime lab pending an autopsy.

Floyd County police have launched an investigation after the body of a white male was found dead floating in Armuchee Creek.

According to Floyd County Police, the body was found just before 3 pm by a fisherman near GA 156.

Floyd County Police Department Public Affairs Officer Michael Bell said that the body was recovered in a hard to reach location in the river.
