Mrs. Barbara Ann Maloney Covington, age 76, of Rome, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024, at a local healthcare facility.
Mrs. Covington was born in Rome, Georgia on December 15, 1947, daughter of the late Harold Maloney and the late Evelyn Hightower Maloney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen “Bob” Covington, by a sister, Shirley Dodd, and by a brother, Don Maloney. Mrs. Covington was a longtime member of Sherwood Church where she was a member of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class. Prior to retirement, she worked as a secretary for Rome Chenille & Supply, K-Towne Antenna, and The Music Room on Broad Street. She was very active in the Relay for Life helping organize the walk every year.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Covington and his fiance’, Paige Taff; a daughter-in-love, Anjie Covington; two grandchildren, Cassidy Clark and her husband, Mason, and Parker Covington; two great grandchildren, Cason & Blakely Clark; a brother, Shelton Maloney; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 11am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Dr. Ralph Jenkins, Dr. Charles Bishop, and Mr. Russell Head officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday from 5 until 7pm.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday at 10:30am and include Active: Parker Covington, Mason Clark, Charles Maloney, David Bynum, Russell Head, Matt Dodd, and John Cornelison. Honorary: Terry Maloney and Greg Dodd.
