Mrs. Amanda Anne Gentry, age 84, of Summerville, formerly of Aragon, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024, at a local hospital.

                Mrs. Gentry was born in Rome, Georgia on October 18, 1939, daughter of the late John W. Peugh and the late Annie Mae Willis Peugh.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Raiford Gentry, by a son, Steve Gentry, and by two sisters, Gloria Belcher (Larry) and Helen Johnson (Bob).  Prior to retirement, Mrs. Gentry worked for Southeastern Mills.  She was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church.  Mrs. Gentry was a two-time breast cancer survivor.  She was a loving mother and Maw Maw and was loved by all that knew her.

                Survivors include two sons, Greg Gentry (Jana) and Tommy Gentry (Wendy); 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Ray Peugh (Shirley); nieces and nephews.

                Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 6:30pm at Flint Hill Cemetery.  The Rev. Don Spears will officiate.

                The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 4:30 until 6pm.

                Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday at 5:30pm and include Ryan Gentry, Zach Vines, Drew Jackson, Barry Bonds, James Davenport, and Caleb Henderson.

                In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Brest Center at Atrium Health Floyd at www.floyd.org.
