Mrs. Debra Sammons Jarvis, age 68, of Rome, Georgia, passed into Heaven on June 19th, 2024. Mrs. Jarvis was born in Blakely, Georgia, and grew up in Albany, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Bill Sammons and Doris Sammons.

          Mrs. Jarvis is survived by Jay Jarvis (Rome), her loving husband; her sons James and John Jarvis (Atlanta); her brother, Edwin Sammons (Atlanta); Uncle Pete Odum (Blakely); and her Aunt Charlotte Odum (Thomasville).  She loved her family and was always known as the “mother of James and John.”

         Mrs. Jarvis was a member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church in Rome, Georgia, and the Crusader Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Riverview Academy in Albany, Tift College in Forsyth, The University of Georgia, and Georgia College. She retired from Floyd County Schools as an Assistant Principal at Armuchee High School. She was an educator for over 30 years in Albany, Forsyth, Macon, and Rome.

       A Celebration of Life and Salvation will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Mac McCurry officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 1:45 pm, prior to the funeral services.

Donations in memory of Mrs. Jarvis may be made to Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church in Rome, Armuchee High School in Rome, or to your favorite charity.
