Judy Wilson Godfrey, age 78, of Calhoun, passed away Monday, May 27th, at her residence.
Judy was born on November 8, 1945, in Carrollton, Georgia. She was a 1963 graduate of Avondale High School. Before retiring from sales management with Goody’s Department Store, she had worked 20 years with Rich’s. Judy loved attending Sugar Valley Baptist Church before ill health prevented her from doing so.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hugh Godfrey, her father, Maenon L. Wilson and his wife Wilma Jo Wilson, her mother, Ruth Turner Holcomb, and her husband Swain “Joe” Holcomb, and a brother, Trenice Lee Wilson.
Survivors include her sister, Janice Brooks and her husband Jimmy, one niece, Brandy Thompson and her husband Richard, great-nephews, Hunter Thompson and Tanner Thompson. The daughter she never had and her loving caregiver for the past four years, Amie Chitwood. Her friend and caregiver, Kathy Wilson as well as several cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 29th at 1 pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Mitch Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 29th from 12 until 1 pm at the funeral home.
