Mrs. Maggie Lou Cantrell Collum, age 87, of Rome, GA, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Collum was born in Rome, GA, on October 19, 1936, daughter of the late Richard Cantrell and the late Josephine Wilkins Cantrell. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mary Cantrell Alexander and Zelma Cantrell Clements. Mrs. Collum worked as a food processor at Valley Vend prior to her retirement. She was an extremely talented seamstress and quilt maker, having worked at numerous textile manufacturing facilities over her lifetime. Mrs. Collum was also an excellent cook and loved feeding people. She enjoyed attending any event her grandchildren were a part of. Mrs. Collum was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church and prior to her illness loved being a part of numerous activities at the church.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Herbert Collum, Rome; 3 children, Donna Collum Riordan (Ricky), Dana Collum (Cindy), and Dewayne “Dugan” Collum, all of Rome; a brother, Clyde Cantrell; 3 grandchildren, Patrick Collum (Joey), Tyler Collum (Jenna), and Cameron Collum; 7 great-grandchildren, Addison Barnes, Harper Collum, Elliot Collum, Miles Collum, Liv Collum, Tripp Collum and Rhys Collum; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, April 5, 2024, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Dr. Jeff Dabbs officiating and her grandson, Tyler Collum, delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12pm until service time on Friday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.
Pallbearers are to assemble by 1:30pm on Friday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include: Rick Alexander, Michael Branton, Russell Brock, Bob Nadeau, Bob Powell, Doug Kelley, and David Middleton.
