Mrs. Jimmie Murdock Burkhalter, age 90, of Lindale, GA, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at a local assisted living facility.

                Mrs. Burkhalter was born in Cedartown, GA, on July 25, 1933, daughter of the late Roland Lee Murdock and the late Zelma Grogan Murdock. She was also preceded in death by 5 siblings, Edward Murdock, Opal Gentry, Juanita Batot, Ruby Cox, and Sylvia Fullbright.  Mrs. Burkhalter was a 1951 graduate of Cedartown High School. She worked at Sears in Atlanta and Rome, as well as working for a time at Southern Wholesale Company in Rome.  Mrs. Burkhalter retired from Floyd Junior College (now Georgia Highlands) in 1998 where she worked in the Registrar’s office. She was an excellent cook and loved cooking for her entire family. Mrs. Burkhalter enjoyed traveling and entertaining, especially entertaining her grandchildren.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lindale.

                Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Barry Burkhalter, Lindale; 2 sons, Steven Burkhalter (Angie), and Gary Burkhalter (Janice), both of Cave Spring; her sister, Lana Evans, Centre, AL; 4 grandchildren, Zach Burkhalter (Amanda), Crystal Polizzi (Justin), Leigh Kiser, and Stephanie Stager (Tyler); several great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

                Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, April 12, 2024, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Eric Whelchel officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

                The family will receive friends from 12pm until service time on Friday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.
