Mrs. Evelyn Louise Brown, age 88, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 following an extended illness. Mrs. Brown was born in Polk County to the late John Earnest and Hattie Mae Howard Drummond. She was a member of the Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church and later Lake Creek Baptist Church. She loved her church family and the children. She has served as a Children’s Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Secretary, and Food Ministry Coordinator. She was a talented seamstress and baker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lewis, Euel, Clarence, and Eugene Drummond; and her sisters, Earlene Astin, Blanche Justice, Mildred Bryant, Mary Atkins, Virginia Craton, Betty Hanie, and Pearl Fay Drummond.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Claud Edward Brown; son, Randy Brown and his wife, Karen, daughter, Vickie Duke and her husband, Lee, and son, David Brown and his wife, Louann; sister, Elizabeth Brantley; brother, Earl Drummond; seven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. A number of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Louise Brown will be conducted on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at the Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Reverend Ray Hopkins and Reverend Dr. DeWayne New officiating. A eulogy will be given by her granddaughter. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove cemetery.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Brian Wilson, Jeremy Bean, Mark Lowery, Daniel Scipper, Brett Richter, Kevin Brown, and Isaac Bean.
The family will receive friends, also on Friday afternoon, from 11:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home.
