Mr. Robert Durham Dansby, age 84, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at his residence.
Mr. Dansby was born in Aragon, Georgia on May 20, 1939, son of the late Daniel Monroe Dansby and the late Laura Mae Sorrells Dansby. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Dansby. During his working career, Mr. Dansby worked for Braswell Grocery for 3 years, the Goodyear Mill in Rockmart for 7 years, and then as a Draftsman for General Electric in Rome for 33 1/2 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of Mt. Alto Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dollie Stephenson Dansby, to whom he was married on June 27, 1959; a son, Danny Dansby; a daughter, Donna Holbrook (Bubba); three granddaughters, Allison Dansby, Courtney Dansby, and Carly Wright (Frankie); seven great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Dansby, Matthew Henderson, Colton Frankum, Cooper Dansby, Preston Wright, Dorothy Wright, and Samuel Wright; a sister, Dannie Mae Lancaster; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 1pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Pastors Matthew Bowden, Frank Wood, and Frankie Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Saturday from 12pm until the service time.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Saturday at 12:30pm and include Danny Dansby, Steve Woods, Bubba Holbrook, Mike Jones, John Hardin, and Dewayne Comer.
