Mr. Gary Rollins Alford, age 74, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2024.

                Gary was born in Walterboro, SC, on September 17, 1949, son of the late Delmer Alford and Marie Alford. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Lunelle Kelly.

                Mr. Alford worked for Georgia Power/Southern Company as a Nuclear Electrician at Plant Vogtle, prior to his retirement. After retirement, Gary and his wife moved to Rome, GA, to be closer to their family. His family were founding members of First Chirstian Church in Milledgeville. Gary was a self-taught golfer who loved watching and playing the game. He was a skilled repairman of many things mechanical and electrical, including appliances and HVAC systems. He was a devoted Georgia Bulldog football fan, who cheered his team on from the stands and at home for many years. Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and he will be missed by all.

                Mr. Alford is survived by his wife, Deborah Alford; his daughter, Michelle (Mark) Cochran; his grandsons, Logan Cochran, and Cooper Cochran; his brother, Larry (Linda) Alford; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

                A graveside service will be held in the gazebo at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 4:00pm, with Heyman Hospice Chaplain George Nix officiating.

                The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 3:30pm, on Monday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel.

In honor of Gary’s favorite team, the family invites you to wear red or University of Georgia apparel.
