Two Rome men, Jay Farrell Jones, 39, and John Daniel Tillery, 49, were arrested this week after reports said they were found with an assortment of drugs following a traffic stop that ended on Wheeling Drive near Coosa High School.

Authorities said that Jones recklessly drove through a school zone at a high rate of speed before pulling over for police. 

Once stopped, Jones was found with a marijuana cigarette on his leg.  A dry pouch was then spotted on top of the wet ground.  Inside the pouch was 39.3 grams of methamphetamine, 3.6 grams of marijuana, digital scales and packaging materials.  Both Jones and Tillery denied that the items belonged to them.

Crack cocaine was also found in the possession of the suspects.

Jones is also wanted on warrants in Alabama.

Both are charged with possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of meth with intent to distribute, drug trafficking, possession of marijuana, tampering with evidence, abandonment of dangerous drugs and possession of drugs within a 1,000 feet of a school.

Jones is additionally charged with reckless driving, fleeing from police, fugitive from justice and parole violation.
