Mrs. Donna Lee Douglas Workman, age 81, of Rome, GA, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at a local assisted living facility.
Mrs. Workman was born on August 27, 1942, in Seward, AK, daughter of the late Leo Douglas and the late Emma Lou Wilkerson Douglas. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Workman. Born and raised in Alaska, Mrs. Workman fell in love and moved to Kentucky where she raised two kids on a farm. As the kids got older, she moved to Lakeland, FL, and after the death of her husband, she moved to Rome, GA, to be close to her daughter and spend the final year of her life in Brookdale Assisted Living. She traveled the United States on a motorcycle with her husband Jerry. Mrs. Workman had a zeal for life and never met a stranger. She was a kindhearted and positive person who always wore a smile. Mrs. Workman was a member of The Church at Northside and was a born-again Christian who longed to be reunited with her family. She is now rejoicing with her family and most importantly, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity.
Survivors include her 2 children, Cynthia “Cindy” Vice, Kingston, and James Allen Vice (Kimberly Esterling-Vice), Franklin, TN; her sister, Bonnie Detwiler; multiple stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Workman will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 6pm on Friday, March 1, 2024, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Tim Dickens will officiate the service.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024, in Fleming County Cemetery, Flemingsburg, KY, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. The Rev. Jeremiah Hanson will officiate the service for all of Mrs. Workman’s Kentucky family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Cancer Navigators, 3 Central Plaza, Suite 415, Rome, GA 30161.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brookdale Assisted Living for the tireless care and compassion they showed Mrs. Workman during her year at the facility and truly making it her home.
