Mr. Houston Franklin Roberson, age 85, of Armuchee, GA, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at his residence.

Mr. Roberson was born in Floyd County, GA, on January 9, 1939, son of the late Charles Roberson, Sr., and the late Velma Kay Roberson. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Rita “Sug” Watters Roberson, to whom he married when he was 21, a son, Korey Roberson, sister, Josephine Agan, and by 3 brothers, Junior Roberson, Howell Roberson and Randolph “Randy” Roberson. Mr. Roberson was a graduate of Pepperell High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from GE after 35 years of faithful service where he worked in insulation for the first 20 years and as a tanker for the last 15 years.  He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA, and the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association.

Affectionately known as “Pop”, Mr. Roberson was the true definition of a southern man. He was a hard-working man who instilled the value of hard work into his son and grandchildren.  Pop loved his cattle and everything that involved the care and upkeep of his farm.  He accompanied his son as they traveled all over showing cattle at various shows with the help of the Young Farmers Association.  After his retirement, he kept animals of all sorts (Llamas, emus, donkeys, cows, goats, and chickens to name a few) and created an environment where special needs children could have an outlet to visit the animals. Pop loved to travel and anything that involved the outdoors.  From hunting and fishing to taking his son and the neighborhood boys camping, he loved nature.  He also enjoyed playing softball, having played even in to his 70’s and at one time coached the Flint Hill Baptist Church Girls Softball team. Above all, Pop loved his family, especially the time he got to spend with his grandchildren and his great grandson.

Survivors include his son, Daron Roberson, and his wife, Angie, Rome; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Roberson, Ashley Roberson, Luke Johnson and Lauren Johnson; a great grandchild, Atlas Scott Brown; numerous nieces and nephews.
