Mrs. Glenda Taylor Lawrence, age 78, of Rome, GA, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at a local assisted living facility.

                Mrs. Lawrence was born in Rome, GA, on July 18, 1945, daughter of the late Henry Taylor and the late Pauline Everett Taylor.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Cargle.  Mrs. Lawrence was a graduate of North Cobb High School and went on to receive her certification as a dental assistant.  She worked as an HR supervisor for the IRS for many years, but her favorite job was as the assistant manager at Goody’s.  She loved the beach so much so that she and her husband had a place in Panama City Beach when her children were younger. Mrs. Lawrence enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and was known to play a slot machine when the opportunity arose. She never met a stranger and loved everyone but was quick to put you in your place if you needed it.  Mrs. Lawrence was a faithful member of New Antioch Baptist Church in Shannon was a member of the “Faith Ladies” Sunday School Class.

                Survivors include her husband, Bill Lawrence, Rome, to whom she was married on December 2, 1966; 2 daughters, Wendy Phelps (Johnny), and Angel Phillips (Stephen); her sister, Wanda Taylor Westbrook (Alton); 6 grandchildren, Chad Hunt, Jannah Phelps, Chelsey Bowden (Lee), Taylor Pope (Huston), Bryson Phillips, and Grayson Phillips; 5 great grandchildren, Easton Bradshaw, Madison Bowden, Braelyn Hunt, Teddy Pope, and Immy Pope; nieces and nephews.

                Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Tony Cargle officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

                The family will receive friends from 12pm until service time on Thursday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.

                Pallbearers are to assemble by 1:30pm on Thursday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include: Johnny Phelps, Stephen Phillips, Lee Bowden, Shane Westbrook, Scott Westbrook and spencer Westbrook.
