A 29 year-old Chicago man, Lyndell Earlee Wafford, was arrested in Gordon County this week following a multi-county police chase.

Reports said that the chase, which began in Cartersville, began after officers attempted to pull Wafford over for allegedly attempting to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at a local business. Instead of pulling over, Wafford sped away going north on I75.

After reaching speeds of over 130 mph, Cartersville Police lost sight and called for help from the Georgia State Patrol.

When the suspect came across the Gordon County line a PIT maneuver was used to end the chase near exit 318.

While taking Wafford into custody, officers discovered that a 6 year-old girl was a passenger in the suspect’s vehicle.

Arresting officers also noticed that Wafford had been driving under the influence of drugs during the chase.

Wafford is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, first-degree cruelty to children, aggressive driving, reckless conduct, reckless driving, speeding, open container, driving under the influence of drugs, child endangerment by DUI, child restraint, following too closely, driving without a license, improper lane change, willful obstruction of law enforcement, failure to use correct signal, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, tire requirements, driver to exercise due care, driving on divided highway, glazing of windows, driving on roadway laned for traffic, and a seat belt violation.
