Recently the Governor’s Challenge Awards was held in Macon, GA. The Governor’s Challenge Awards, is the state’s premier law enforcement awards ceremony recognizing state, local, campus and military law enforcement units for the outstanding work they do in promoting highway safety through education and enforcement.


The Mountain Area Traffic Enforcement Network (MNTEN) consists of 10 counties (Dade, Walker Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Chattooga, Floyd, Gordon, Bartow and Polk) and the local police departments within each of those counties. Several agencies from MNTEN were present and recognized at the awards ceremony. We would like to congratulate these agencies for their accomplishments at the 24 th annual Governor’s Challenge Banquet:
The Calhoun Police Department received 1 st place in the Governor’s Challenge category 3.

The Dalton Police Department received 1 st place in the Governor’s Challenge category 5.

The Rome Police Department received 3 rd place in the Governor’s Challenge category 5.

The Calhoun Police Department also won the overall Child Passenger Safety Award and

Teen/Young Driver Safety Award for the State of Georgia.

The Mountain Area Traffic Enforcement Network, took 1 st place out of 16 networks for the state.

The Calhoun Police Department was the overall winner for the State of Georgia and took home the Governor’s Cup.

We would like to thank each agency in MNTEN for continuously working hard and dedicating so much time to the network. We understand that several officers and deputies dedicate a lot of their free time to participating in our network events and want you to know that your efforts have been noticed and more appreciated than you may know. Thanks to your time and commitment, this award for MNTEN was
