Mrs. Lillian Nellaree “Nell” Bailey, age 95, of Silver Creek, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at her residence.

                Mrs. Bailey was born in Roanoke, Alabama on July 3, 1928, daughter of the late Christopher Columbus Windsor and the late Sallie Kate Smallwood Windsor.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Monroe Bailey, by a son, Bobby Joe Bailey, by a son-in-law, Ronnie Campbell, by three sisters, Blanche Roberts, Ester Harris, and Dorothy Klawetter, and by a brother, Gordon Windsor.  Mrs. Bailey was a member of Liberty View Baptist Church.  She owned and operated several stores over the years including Bailey’s Grocery, Heap Cheap Grocery, U Save Shopette and lastly Nell’s One Stop.  There was nothing she could not do, she was a butcher, loved gardening (her flowers brought her much joy), and loved traveling with her family.  Mrs. Bailey lived for Jesus and lived for her family.

                Survivors include three children, Cathy Campbell, Pat Huckaby, and Todd Bailey (Ashlea); a daughter-in-law, Glenda Bailey; a brother, Pete Windsor (Nita); seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

                Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Bryan Tate officiating.  Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

                The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 1pm until the service time.

                Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday at 1:30pm and include Jay Campbell, Rodney Bailey, Bo Davis, Luke Davis, Dean Bridwell, and Mark Garriga.
