Mrs. Ella Compton Williams, age 87, of Silver Creek, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at her residence with her family by her side.

                Mrs. Williams was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on February 24, 1936, daughter of the late K.P. Compton and the late Rose Graham Compton.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Diane Studdard.  Prior to retirement, Mrs. Williams was a Paraprofessional for the Floyd County Board of Education.  She attended Armuchee Church of God.  Mrs. Williams loved to sew, crochet, read, play the ukulele, and enjoyed gardening.

                Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Robert Lee Williams, to whom she was married on December 24, 1952; two sons, Jeff Williams (Jean) and Mark Williams (Julie); a daughter, Robin Sorrow (Dathan); five grandchildren, Katie Hatcher (Paul), Hannah Godfrey (Brian), Jesse Williams (Kara Lee), Abigail Seitz (Matt), and Aaron Sorrow; five great grandchildren, Ella Hatcher, Bishop Hatcher, Beau Hatcher, Deacon Godfrey, and Hudson Williams; a brother, Wayne Compton (Nan); nieces and nephews.

                Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Teddy King opening with prayer and family members sharing.  Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park with family members sharing and the Rev. Billy Tatum closing the service with prayer.

                The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday from 12 noon until 1:45pm.

                Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday at 1:30pm and include Active: Jesse Williams, Matt Seitz, Brian Godfrey, Paul Hatcher, Kenneth Studdard, Kevin Bartley, and Travis Cason.  Honorary: Sam Bartley, Sam Mize, Larry Penn, Frank Brown, Paul Fambro, Wilburn Norton, and Romeo.

                The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Pruitt Hospice, especially Jennifer and Kasey.
