Austin Lee Long, 34 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he violated a court order to stay away from a woman when he went to meet her at a home on Hatfield Road.

Long is charged with aggravated stalking.

Austin Lee Long, 34 of Rome, was arrested this week after he allegedly attempted to kill a 25 year-old woman and her 3 pound chihuahua.

Reports said that Long grabbed the victim by the throat and strangled her until she could no longer breathe. Long then proceeded to pull the victim’s hair out of her head before striking her with a cellphone, and leaving numerous injuries to her body. The actions were done while he was threatening to kill her.

Long took the woman’s cellphone and refused to give it back.

Long also grabbed the victim’s chihuahua and threw it against the wall.

The incident occurred at a home on Selman Road.

Long is charged with aggravated assault, battery, theft by taking, terroristic threats and acts and cruelty to animals.
